Bath Buzz's infused caffeine beauty products are fun to use, but they also have a serious side as well. We developed a lotion that feels really
great on the skin, has great moisturizing abilities, and then we infused caffeine to provide the potential benefits shown from an abudance of promising
research. Here's a quick summary of the potential benefits of the topical application of caffeine:
Caffeine's use as a cellulite reducer is wide spread. As an active ingredient, caffeine works by pushing water out of fat cells, temporarily
reducing the appearance of dimples. The result is a firmer, toner appearance to the skin. Dr. Schlundt of Vanderbilt University posted a very good discussion on the
interaction of caffeine and cellulite.
Just as caffeine has promise in reducing cellulite through its anti-inflammatory benefits, it is also used in creams to reduce puffiness in the face, especially around the eyes. The anti-inflammatory effect of caffeine has also shown
to reduce the effects of rosecea.
There has also been ongoing research into the topical application of caffeine to reduce the effect UVB radiation on the skin. A
paper published in August 2002 on the subject
showed a substantial reduction in the damage to the skin when a caffeine solution
was applied to the skin of mice exposed to UVB radiation. A nice synopsis of the results was published in
USA Today. Recent
research published this year has backed earlier findings and indicates that caffeine reduces the skins' absorption of UV as well as repairing existing sun damage.
